Student-owned writing

We coach the essay. We do not write it for the student.

The goal is stronger thinking and clearer writing—not a polished essay that sounds like someone else. Counselors guide, question, edit and provide feedback while the student remains the author.

FAQ

Questions parents usually ask

Who will work with my student?

CrunchTutor matches students with an experienced essay counselor based on timing, needs, availability and fit. Counselor backgrounds may include graduates of UC Berkeley, University of Chicago, USC, UCLA, NYU, UIUC and other leading universities. Many are professionals or advanced-degree candidates.

Do you guarantee a counselor from a specific university?

No. A specific alma mater is not guaranteed unless CrunchTutor confirms it in advance. We prioritize counselor fit, experience and availability.

Can you help if my student has not started the essay?

Yes. We can begin with brainstorming and topic discovery, or start from an existing outline or draft.

Can you help with Common App essays, UC PIQs and supplements?

Yes. CrunchTutor can support the Common App personal statement, the University of California Personal Insight Questions and college-specific supplemental essays.

Will the counselor write or rewrite the essay for my student?

No. The student remains the author. Counselors coach, ask questions, suggest changes and provide editing feedback while preserving the student’s authentic voice.

Do you guarantee admission?

No. No ethical essay coach can guarantee a college admission outcome. The goal is to help the student communicate their story clearly, thoughtfully and authentically.

How early should we start?

Earlier is better. Starting several weeks before the first deadline gives students time to brainstorm, draft, reflect and revise without rushing.

How do we learn about package options and availability?

Submit the inquiry form, email info@crunchtutor.com, or text/WhatsApp 510.662.2693. We’ll review the student’s needs and recommend the appropriate next step.
